New Painting

I painted this for my bedroom....I'll eventually paint the frame white.
It's titled "The Flowers of the Field and the Birds of the Air"
The silhouette is Tirzah. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see it hung
in the room.

Geckos and Rockets

Kynan said his first very clear word (besides Mama Dada and "No!")
the other day: Gecko. He has these Gecko Jammies (pictured above),
and he said the word perfectly. He holds the "o" sound very long, which is very cute.

Tirzah enjoys drawing on her dry-erase board, and her newest project is drawing rockets, over and over and over. You can see the very large rocket she drew (pictured below), which she was very proud of.

Colorado Springs residents often joke that if you don't like the weather, wait five or ten minutes. Last week, we had a cold snowy day, followed by sixty-degree weather with lots of sunshine. So, I took the kids to Memorial Park, where there was still ice on the lake, and we looked at the geese and ducks (which were not scared of us at all.) Kynan was fascinated by them, and Tirzah a little afraid (a goose hissed at her, though, and I was a little scared too, to be honest). She braved the freezing waters, and walked in the lake a bit. I had to convince her that red feet as a result of being barefoot was not good, and she eventually put her sandals back on. For a girl who freaks out if there are "lumps" in her hair when she wakes up, she doesn't mind walking in water that makes your feet feel like they are being stabbed by knives. Kids.

Getting Started

We've started this blog in an effort to allow family and friends to keep up with our lives (if they find it interesting, of course). It is also a convenient and fairly easy way to post photos of the kids as they change and grow, and of my (Jen's) artwork and photography.

I (Jen) will be doing almost all of the posting, as my hardworking husband usually has trouble simply keeping up with email. So, expect this to be written from my point of view.

So, I begin on a new year, which happens to be the year in which our 10-year high school reunion will be taking place. I'm starting to wonder how in the world 10 years have gone by since I graduated high school! Is it just me, or did time seem to crawl until you left home, and then it flew at an unbelievable rate? Do I already have a 4-year-old daughter?

Aaron and I started dating ten years ago, January 6th. It's nice to see, feel, and know, that our relationship has just become fabulous in that amount of time. Ten years ago, I didn't exactly imagine that I would have two beautiful children and a very happy 8 1/2 year marriage with Aaron. He was just my nerdy best friend, and I felt like I was taking a gamble on the friendship by dating him. I gambled well!
I hit the jackpot, I say.

Well, as we begin a new year, I'm sure that we will have lots of new stories to tell. We hope that our beloved friends and family enjoy reading about our adventures, struggles and joyful times.
